SRMC Exceeds United Way Fundraising Goal for 2022

AIKEN, S.C. (November 30, 2022) − Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), the liquid waste contractor at the Savannah River Site (SRS), has surpassed its annual fundraising goal for local United Way partners.

SRMC employees participated in numerous community projects and fundraising events through the 2022 SRMC Employees United Way Campaign, ultimately surpassing the projected fundraising goal.

SRMC employees’ contributions helped raise more than $286,000, exceeding the company's goal of $275,000. Donations will be provided to the United Ways of Aiken County, Barnwell/Allendale Counties, Edgefield County, the CSRA, the Midlands, Bamberg/Colleton/Hampton, Anderson, McDuffie, and Screven Counties.

SRMC President and Program Manager Dave Olson said employees provide strong support for the numerous projects that help boost the surrounding communities.

"Our team is extremely generous with its time, talents, and treasure," Olson said. "Many members of the SRMC team dedicate themselves to providing financial support to those who need help. Plus, they volunteer their time and energy for cleanup and construction projects in local neighborhoods that contribute to making residents' lives a little better. They truly go above and beyond."

SRMC employees demonstrated their support for United Way and the local community in various ways, through payroll deductions and several employee-led fundraising efforts -- including a golf tournament, chili cook-off, bowling tournament, and softball tournament, as well as taking part in the service projects in neighboring counties.

SRMC United Way Campaign Chairman Paul E. Cundey IV was pleased with the results of this year’s effort.

“The abundant generosity of our workforce is a testament to their dedication to our surrounding counties,” Cundey said. “The response is overwhelming and demonstrates our Power As One philosophy.”

SRMC comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Its team brings the capabilities necessary to accelerate cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site through safe nuclear operations, optimized and integrated mission execution, and strong corporate governance.
