AIKEN, S.C. (April 3, 2025) — A group of volunteers from Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) came together with a vision to help their community during the United Way of Aiken County’s Project VISION Day of Caring.
The Project VISION — or Volunteers In Service In Our Neighborhoods — Day of Caring took place on March 21, 2025, with hundreds of volunteers setting out across the county for the annual community service day.
More than 50 volunteers from SRMC, the Savannah River Site’s liquid waste contractor, teamed up to assist with renovations, repairs, or landscaping for four local United Way agencies: TriCounty Development Center, Cumbee Center, Children’s Place, and the Aiken County United Way office. A group of volunteers also served at a private residence designated by United Way to build a wheelchair-accessible ramp.
The Project VISION coordinator for SRMC, Bobbi Stavru, said she is always amazed by the outpouring of support for the Day of Caring.
“Our team takes every opportunity to support the community, especially those who are in need of help,” said Stavru, executive admin/coordinator for SRMC Projects and Construction Services. “I am proud to be a part of something that produces meaningful changes in the lives of my neighbors.”
SRMC President and Program Manager Dave Olson said that volunteering is one of the many ways that SRMC employees show their commitment to supporting the surrounding communities.
“Whether through time, talent, or treasure, SRMC employees are always willing to answer a call for help in our community,” Olson said. “It is always encouraging to see members of this team use their time away from work to benefit others.”
SRMC comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Its team brings the capabilities necessary to accelerate cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site through safe nuclear operations, optimized and integrated mission execution, and strong corporate governance.
